Poundland makeup

I have heard both great and bad  things about Poundland in the past in terms of selling some high end / high street make-up, obviously for £1. I was always a bit dubious and  I was never really willing to have a look but after walking past a large poundland store the other day I decided to bite the bullet and have a look around. Its safe to say I am every glad I did. I came out with 6 things, obviously resulting in £6 spent.

I really cant believe some of the brands they stock! They stock products which have either been discontinued or having been moved by another retailer in an attempt to free up warehouse space or as a last attempt to make some revenue after being stocked in leading retailers such as boots.

The products

Ck tempting glimmer sheer crème eye shadows in vingle indigo and cashmere plum - From what I can gather from the internet and past reviews they have been discontinued about last year, however use to retail at around £11 each!

Astor perfect Stay Lip Tint in 150 Bols de Rose - I couldn't find an original price anywhere apart from at www.thecosmetichouse.co.uk, where they state it normally retails at £10.99, however I am not completely sure of this.

Rimmel powder blush 041 bronze - £3.99

Rimmel soft kohl kajal eye pencil 011 sable brown - £2.99

Rimmel scandaleyes eyeshadow paint 002 late grey - £4.99

= meaning if I bought all the items at full price it would result in £44.96 being spent

In the future I can see poundland visits a regular thing,  but next time include some other bargain shops to see what they have to offer. I am aware many people are against buying in these shops for various reasons, I have read lots of blog posts against buying in these shops due to not being aware of the expiry date, however none of the products I had bought were pre opened and I wont ever buy nail polishes as they do tend to go 'wrong' being in any incorrect condition. I now find poundland shops as a great way for some people who don't always have a lot of money to spend or for bargain hunters to go wild on cosmetics.

Whats your opinion on poundland makeup?

Benefit - Rockateur blush review

Being on a student budget I often read about a million and one reviews before I buy a high end product. The benefit Rockateur blush being one that I did my research on. Therefore I was extremely happy to receive it as a part of the beauty swap at the Lincoln blog meetup ( blog post and vlog here). After a couple of weeks trying it out I am loving it!!

The blush itself is a beautiful rose gold which also highlights very subtly. Originally it had a top layer of shimmer however after a few application I found it was just the right about  to give you  a healthy looking luminous glow. The product applies well being very lightweight and quite sheer. However is very buildable if wanted. The packaging im not as sure about. I do love boxed blushes ect however the chains and lace do make it look a little cheaper. However apart from that it is a lovely product to use daily. I never really use brushes that come with products even if it does seem like a decent brush, which this one does. Instead I normally use the real techniques blush brush to apply.

I know this wasn't really a full review but I haven't had that long to really get to know the product.

Thanks for reading

Sleek blush palette - Lace - Review

About a month ago I spotted this beautiful blush palette in Superdrug. That palette did get left somewhere in Florida when I was on holiday but I did pick another one up the other day so thought I would do a review while it still looks clean and exceptable.

The packaging I really like to start with. Its is very strong and durable, which you don't normally get with a high street brand. As well as looking like a more high end brand due to the 'sleek' and uncluttered look. It also contains a huge mirror which is very helpful for on the go touch ups.

In the trio there is 2 matte colours and 1 shimmery, so has a good range depending on your skin type. (im not a fan of shimmery blushers with my oily skin)

From the left to right  the colours are Crochet, Guipure and chantilly. Crochet is a very vibrant orange. Guipure is a shimmery lighter pink with slight flickers of gold. Lastly Chantilly is a bright matte coral depending on the lightly it can look more red / pink. I do tend to use the  pink colours more as im not really a huge fan of orange blusher all the time. However the orange is still nice to use every now and again.

The colours are very highly pigmented and buildable for a more intense look. However they are extremely pigmented so be careful when applying as you could end up with a slight clown look.Start off the the tiniest amount when applying.

Overall its an absolutely loving palette and is perfect for just day to day or buildable for a intense night look. The price makes the product even better however, for £9.99 for 3 great, usable and highly pigmented blushers. The colours are also a wide range so perfect as a basic day to day set.

Thanks for reading!
