Makeup on a budget tips

Today I thought I would go through some of the things I do when im on a really strict budget but still want to pick up some new make-up bits and bobs. I do have a job but lets be honest when doing A levels, I don't have a lot of time to do lots of shifts. So lets go!

1) Work out how much you can spend a week or month. This way you can see how much you have to spend and don't even have to spend it if you don't want to.

2) Read lots of reviews before you buy anything. Therefore you are less likely to avoid disappointment and so don't waste money repurchasing a different product.

3) Research brands to make sure they decent and will last you.

4) Make sure you get the basics if you are just starting your makeup collection. Try and get a good bronzer, blusher ect then you can build your collection up from there.

5)  Makeup saving tips such as if you run out of eye-liner use an eye-liner brush dipped into your favourite long lasting  mascara are always good to know. Also not using foundation sponges as they absorb your foundation meaning you use more wasting the product.

6) More expensive brands don't always mean they have best quality. You have to try and shop around the cheaper brands to try and get a good idea for which brands work just as well at a cheaper price

7)  I have a post coming very shortly about finding high end and high street in shops such a poundland. Therefore I will link the post when it is up here!

8) My best tip? Any store you are in that has a loyalty card you might as well get one, especially if you shop in there a lot! The amount of boots advantage card points I have could be seen as a little sad. There is no point in missing out of freebies and such like.

Have you got any great tips for being on a budget? I'm blogging everyday in August read the first post here!

Thanks for reading

xx

  1. I always read other bloggers' reviews for products that I consider getting...and I don't randomly get products in the stores too. I think that helps a lot at saving money when buying makeup!

  2. Brilliant post! I always read about 15 reviews before buying anything even if it costs £1.99.
Research for me is a big thing. I don't mind spending that bit more if I know it'll be good and I'll wear it a lot.
Also take advantage of 3 for 2 offers if you have certain staple products like foundation. If you get three bottles, you'll be set for the year!

  4. My best money-saving tip is to re-organize your makeup collection and throw away (or give away) the things that you no longer enjoy using! This will leave you with only the products that you're absolutely excited about. Once you realize how exciting your own collection is, you'd actually want to shop less and prefer to use what you already have. :-)
